Awaken your senses at Universal CityWalk’s newest dining experience, the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen.

toothsome-emporium-exterior-nightHordes of dessert lovers swarmed the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium for its official soft open on Monday, and it didn’t disappoint. The restaurant, which features a full-service menu, will have an official grand opening in September. Complete with its creator’s backstory, the steampunk theme permeates throughout the building from the architecture, to the interior design, to the costumed employees. It’s a sensory overload for the imaginative who crave to be transported to a place of mechanical fantasy and science fiction adventures. What better place to do so than the entrance to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure?

toothsome-emporium-seatingDid we mention The Toothsome Emporium was full service? It’s not only a sensory overload, but a savory overload. The menu features a variety of dishes we love with an exciting twist – from quiches and all-day-brunch crepes to unique takes on classic steak, seafood and pasta entrees, gourmet burgers, flatbreads and much more. The options seem endless. They’ll even start you off with chocolate almond bread and butter with warm chocolate chips melted inside.

So let’s talk Truffle Flavor Guideabout sweetness overload. Of course, being a chocolate emporium, there’s plenty of chocolate treats to go around including gold foil-wrapped bars, chocolate-shaped locks and keys, barks, a variety of lollipops, and chocolate dipped-marshmallows and truffles. Oh, what a beautiful assortment of truffles they have! There’s also not one, but two entire menu pages dedicated to just sundaes!

Want more than chocolate? The walls are filled with an assortment of apothecary jars containing all sorts of candy: rock candy, sour liquid candy, and powdered rimming sugars. Then there’s the lollipops, with unique flavors like cilantro-lime and blueberry-acai. And you just can’t have a sweet shop without a dessert case which is filled with gourmet treats like homemade marshmallows, intricately decorated artisan cupcakes, eclairs, chocolate covered strawberries, and colorful macaroons. And let’s not forget the steampunk-inspired chocolate cogs!

toothsome-emporium-bacon-brittle-milkshakeThe artisan milkshakes… Oh, how the milkshakes bring all the boys (and girls) to the emporium. The milkshakes are massive masterpieces of the indulgent and totally over-the-top. Made in the foundry area separately from the main kitchen you have 13 flavors to mull over. It’s difficult to choose just one! Flavors like Red Velvet (that comes topped with a red velvet cupcake), Bacon Brittle (with a piece a chocolate-covered bacon!), and Strawberry Cheesecake (topped with a chunk of cheesecake and a chocolate-dipped strawberry) made my sweet tooth hurt just perusing the menu.

What if you’ve had a long day in the parks and want a cocktail? Don’t worry, Toothsome has some of the most inventive adult beverages we’ve had the pleasure of trying. Most have a sweet twist, but not overbearingly so. If you’re a fan of stouts then look no further than the Too Chocolate Stout that’s brewed in the Emporium. Want something a bit fancier? The reward your taste buds with with a twist on something old fashioned with the Old Chocolate Fashioned. Heath isn’t a fan of overly sweet drinks, but is a huge Old Fashioned fan and was in love with the subtle chocolate aftertaste this cocktail provided.

No description will truly do all of this goodness justice. You HAVE to try it for yourself. Keep checking back with us to find out when the menu and grand opening date is announced! While your brain is full steam ahead on all things emporium, enjoy a closer look at at The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen (a mouthful in more ways than one we assure you) in our slideshow below.
