WATCH THE DEFENDERS TEASER TRAILER AND DISCOVER DECIPHERED RELEASE DATE

Midland Circle Security Elevator B teaser thrills and chills!

Ehhhh, not really, BUT we do find out a lot from this teaser.

First, our boy Luke Cage is rocking his hoody with bullet holes natch.

Second, Danny Rand (read our season review of Iron Fist here) has a slightly better haircut and looks soooo exhausted as he slumps against the elevator wall. Stand up ya wimp! Look at Luke, Jessica, and Daredev– well, Daredevil definitely has his hands in his pockets and leans against the wall too to be fair. About Daredevil though…

He’s got on a mask to cover his face. Matt Murdock and the rest of The Defenders crew may have just come from a meeting where he needs to keep his identity secret. Or maybe Daredevil wears a tie now. Regardless, the others are in full DGF mode.

Jessica Jones (!!!) isn’t messing around and rips down the security camera at exactly 08:18:20:17. Man, that’s like the same as August 18, 2017 if you think about it.

If you type into your browser the upper left hand corner numbers (http://23.253.120.81) it takes you to The New York Bulletin that Karen Page works at. On the site you can see headlines about “Luke Cage’d!” and an awkward interview with Joy and Ward Meacham. Danny isn’t in that video, but a headline below shows him in the center of the two Meachams saying “Rand Rises.” The two bottom right headlines are the most interesting as they proclaim “Where Is The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen?” and “Three’s Company: Patsy Walker and Mom Get Permanent House Guest.” Oh, and it also states at the bottom of the page: Watch Marvel’s The Defenders All Episodes Streaming Only on Netflix August 18 | © 2017 MARVEL & ABC Studios.

Mystery solved!

Extra bonus! Sigourney Weaver is the voice of the elevator. Sigourney really is the best intercom voice (see Wall•E). She’s also just the best period. We reported last year that Weaver is going to be the main villain for The Defenders in its 8 episode (thank the maker) first season. Her saying, “Going down.” is definitely not accidental. She’s subtextually telling them that they are all going down. This is my favorite part of the teaser.

Marvel’s The Defenders premieres on Netflix this August 18th.
