Finally, we have a premiere date for season 4 of Sherlock: January 1, 2017.
What better way to bring in the New Year than with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock and Martin Freeman’s Dr. Watson? By adding in the nefarious Moriarty. Along with the premiere date, the official Sherlock Twitter gave us this new teaser trailer…

Something’s coming …
Showrunner Steven Moffat said that “… terror and tragedy are looming” with this new season and from the looks of it we can expect Sherlock to have to face his demons.
Everything they know will be tested.
Everyone they know is under threat.
Along with the teaser we got a piece of key art as well:
The broken violin string coupled with some serious scruff going on looks as if Sherlock will be pushed to a breaking point. There have been hints at this season being the final installation, so it’s possible these three episodes will culminate into some sort of ending for Sherlock. Will Moriarty be his undoing?
Plan on nursing your hangover with Episode 1 “The Six Thatchers” on New Year’s Day.
