Prepare yourselves for the wild ride of the new drama, Westworld. The latest series by HBO, who has been doing an excellent job at checking off all their genres (Game of Thrones, The Night Of, Vice Principals), can now add two more to the list: science fiction AND western! According to HBO, Westworld is:
“A dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.”
So, robot sex in a western future. Count me in! If you haven’t seen the trailer then indulge yourself:
TV Line scooped up 20 images from HBO that give us our most extensive look at the series yet. Executive producers J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan are bringing us this 10-episode series in just over a month which stars Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Thandie Newton and Jeffrey Wright. That’s a stellar cast!
Based on the 1973 film starring Yul Brenner and written and directed by the late Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, Sphere) we now have one more thing to look forward to this fall.
Check out the newly released images of the characters in all their science-y, western glory:
