Unless you were living under a rock (or in a small fallout shelter given the time period) during the early 2000s, you probably remember the music video for Fatboy Slim’s single ‘Weapon of Choice’ directed by Spike Jonze. It took him over a decade, but Jonze may have just made the unofficial sequel that we didn’t realize we always wanted, and it’s a perfume commercial of all things. Working with Ryan Heffington (the choreographer behind Sia’s ‘Chandelier’) and Margaret Qualley, Jonze delivers an utterly insane ad for Kenzo’s new fragrance (Kenzo World).
The ad starts like most perfume ads do, with an attractive star (Qualley) in a designer dress at a formal engagement. This is all interrupted by Ape Drums’ ‘Mutant Brain’ as Qualley’s face starts to rhythmically spasm and her body soon follows. What transpires next is a kind of pure lunacy that only Spike Jonze is capable of. We follow Qualley as she dances her way through the entire venue, snapping a man’s neck, licking statues, and shooting lasers out of her fingertips along the way. All leading to a triumphant leap through an eye made out of flowers for a finale. Words don’t quite do this video justice, check it out for yourself down below.
You can purchase Kenzo World here or possibly find it cheaper from a reputable third party.
All that is known about him is that he’s a Hufflepuff. Good lord, he won’t shut up about being a Hufflepuff.
