Entertainment Weekly has provided us a full view of the updated Pennywise the Clown, played by actor Bill Skarsgård in next years IT. Let’s take a look at… it:
At first glance it really doesn’t do anything for me. I’m almost relieved. You see, (and this is where I admit that I’ve never seen more than two minutes of the IT miniseries from the 80’s) Tim Curry’s portrayal of Pennywise is why I am absolutely horrified of clowns. I’m willing to bet that if you’re in your late 20’s or 30’s this may be your situation as well. As a child I didn’t need to see anything other than this:
FUCK THAT. There’s something inherently wrong about that. It’s sinister perfection. It’s pure nightmare fuel. If this Pennywise worked at Monsters Inc. then Mike and Sully would have been out of jobs. So when I see that new Pennywise trying his hardest to be creepy it’s actually sort of cute. That said, we haven’t seen him in motion, so maybe Bill Skarsgård has a crazy performance up his clown shoes? But if I had to pick which of these things to be stuck in a room with I’d be like, “Yo, Bill! Make me a balloon animal!”
How does it (too easy) compare to Tim Curry’s Pennywise? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
His love of most things in entertainment can be summed up by having an English Bulldog named Spielberg and consistently asking if it’s Halloween yet.
