HBO Documentary Films had a pretty big hit with The Jynx, and now they are back with Beware the Slenderman.

I have been a true crime fan since my mother used to have me watch City Confidential when I was a kid, so I am loving this wave of true crime entertainment we are in the middle of. NPR’s unexpected hit podcast, Serial, really touched on people’s desire to see true human drama play out in an episodic format.

As you can see, the documentary will cover the already infamous attempted murder case, where two middle school aged girls stabbed a classmate nineteen times and left her for dead. It has been widely reported that the two girls were attempting to impress, or perhaps summon, the Slenderman. For those of you who do not know, the Slenderman is a fictional character that was initially created as part of a Photoshop contest to create paranormal images. The mythos behind the Slenderman has been expanding exponentially on the internet since.

HBO has proved to have a steady hand on the wheel when it comes to their documentaries, and unlike The Jynx, this case is only a few years old and still fresh in a lot of peoples minds.

Beware the Slenderman does not have a release date yet.
