The Dark Knight will go head to head with the lethal Deathstroke.
TheWrap is reporting some major news for Ben Affleck’s upcoming Batman movie:
Deathstroke will, in fact, be the main antagonist of the Batman standalone movie he’s directing, TheWrap has exclusively learned from an individual with knowledge of the situation.
That individual with knowledge of the situation better hope that Batfleck doesn’t find out who they are! Earlier today Ben Affleck teased us with this tweet and video below showing Deathstroke on screen (and not looking too different than how he appeared in Arrow for those keeping track):

Our first assumption was that this was footage from Zach Snyder’s Justice League and it still is. If you’re going to build an expanded universe then you have villains and other characters show up in movies so this makes sense. It’s interesting that Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson is the main antagonist in this future Batman; Wilson was more of the main villain for the Teen Titans, but of course has had multiple run ins with Batman over the years. He’s a great character and lethal in combat. From his character bio on DC’s site:
Beyond his heightened speed, strength, and senses, Deathstroke’s greatest asset comes from his incredibly high intelligence, which makes him a master strategist and tactician. He is capable of standing toe-to-toe against some of the DC Universe’s most gifted fighters and most powerful heroes.
He is, without question, the world’s greatest assassin and one of the most feared people on the planet.
That should make for some compelling fight scenes against the Dark Knight. This is also curious because rumors were that Affleck’s Batman movie would include nearly ALL of Batman’s Rogue’s gallery (The Riddler, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, etc.) and may take place in and around Arkham Asylum so they aren’t just all popping up making cameos for the sake of. That’s not Affleck’s style anyways. This Deathstroke news seems to differ from that rumor, but perhaps they are still both connected somehow.
We’ll have to wait and see of course. From the footage above we can assume that we’ll see Slade Wilson in Justice League first and later in Ben Affleck’s yet untitled, but hopefully called The Batman solo Batman movie that has yet to start officially filming.
His love of most things in entertainment can be summed up by having an English Bulldog named Spielberg and consistently asking if it’s Halloween yet.
