OUR FIRST LOOK AT COMMISSIONER GORDON AND THE BATSIGNAL FROM JUSTICE LEAGUE

Yesterday was Batman Day, which is a thing!

Seems like everything has a day these, uh, days. I’m particular to Sonic’s 50¢ Corn Dog Day myself, but I had no idea yesterday was the third official Batman Day. Bob Kane and Bill Finger created Batman in May of 1939 where he first appeared in Detective Comics #27, but we celebrate Batman’s day on September 17 because why? But I digress…

Justice League. Commissioner Gordon. Batsignal. Boom.

I love the photo. I’ve given Snyder a lot of snide remarks the last few years, but this shot reminds me that he has a great eye for composition. The black and white noir feel, the reflection, even the plastic tarp billowing next to Gordon (J.K. Simmons) are all excellent.

The design of the fat bat symbol with only little nubs sticking out for its chubby ears and wingtips still bothers me in an extreme nit-picking way, but that’s extreme nit-picking.

Zack Snyder also posted this photo on set of Justice League.

Happy (belated) Batman Day!
